Matthew Dear’s latest audio/video excursion combines the upbeat title track from his new ‘Headcage EP’ with mesmerizing abstraction from London-based director Morgan Beringer. The upbeat future-pop and signature Dear croon of “Headcage” meet shifting quasi-geological patterns, which eventually morph into hazy, near-perceptible flashes. Certainly a turn towards the light, following Dear’s work for 2010′s ‘Black City.’ 2012 will see a new full-length from Matthew.

TRBL0015 Animation for Enfant Terrible

I did this animation with Zivago a few months ago.

TRBL0014 iPad connected to AKAI EWI USB

I just connected my AKAI EWI USB to my iPad. I have found no software yet that uses the new possibilities of the MIDI capabilities of iOS 4.2.

EWI USB -> powered USB hub -> Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit -> iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch

I used MIDI Monitor to check the incoming data and all worked fine. The only thing that is still a small problem is that the EWI USB needs power. So I connected a powered USB hub between the iPad and the EWI. I’ll have to find a battery powered USB hub.

The wait is now for a synth-program on my iPhone or iPad that uses the new MIDI support.
